is collaborating with&lt;a href="http://www.howard.edu/studenthealth"&gt; Howard University Health Center&lt;/a&gt;, Substance Abuse HIV/AIDS Outreach Program (SHOP), and Project SHAPE to observe &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US" style="line-height: 115%;"&gt;the&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US" style="line-height: 115%;"&gt; &lt;a href="http://www.womenshealth.gov/nwghaad/index.cfm"&gt;National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day&lt;/a&gt; at Howard University, March 3, 2011.&amp;nbsp; National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is a nationwide observance that encourages people to take action in the fight against HIV/AIDS and raise awareness of its impact on women and girls.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="apple-style-span"&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US" style="line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="apple-style-span"&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US" style="line-height: 115%;"&gt;Women face unique challenges when it comes to preventing and treating HIV.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: x-small;"&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;span style="line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;span style="line-height: 115%;"&gt;HIV/AIDS is a crisis within African American community with more than 49 percent of cases in 2007, according to the &lt;a href="http://minorityhealth.hhs.gov/"&gt;Office of Minority Health&lt;/a&gt;.&amp;nbsp; What makes the statistics even more menacing is among all ethnicities affected with HIV/AIDS African American women have a disproportionate rate of infection.&amp;nbsp; In 2007, 61 percent of new cases of HIV infection were black women According to Family Foundation HIV/AIDS, while more than 35 percent of black women were diagnosed with AIDS a year later.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;span style="line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;span style="line-height: 115%;"&gt;This is a call to action for the National Council of Negro Women, Inc.&amp;nbsp; We must actively participate in the research, treatment, and prevention of HIV/AIDS, especially in its reach toward the direction of Black women and communities worldwide.&amp;nbsp; &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;span style="line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;span style="line-height: 115%;"&gt;The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. will be holding events at &lt;a href="http://www.howard.edu/"&gt;Howard University&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="http://www.bennett.edu/"&gt;Bennett College&lt;/a&gt;
